TR6 Windshield Trim TR6

Hi Folks I am a new TR6 owner. Found an awesome one with very little rust in new england. I am replacing the seals and rubber as much of it shows it age. A section of the aluminum trim around the windshield has been cut off. This car will not be a trailer queen but its just bugging me. Anyone know where i can get a replacement? I have looked at Moss but no luck..

Try British Parts Norwest. Note they shrink and I was told to put it is the freezer for a few days and leave it long a bit for a few days to a week and use liquid soap and rubber hammer in places, tight turns can be tough also. See YouTube

That section of the finisher where you see the gap is an indication of how much it can shrink.
..I doubt that a section was intentionally cut out.

Mine shrunk 2 inches in 5 years.....right to the limits of the TRF 2 inch finisher clip
I recently installed another finisher strip that I aged for 2 years in an uninsulated outside storage shed.
After I installed it I let the ends overlap by about 3 inches on each side for 2 months...then I cut them flush and covered the butt joint with another 2 inch clip...
I know there will be some 'shrinkage' in years to come, but I'm not going to look now.

You know, you could just leave it out. I think many people would prefer the look of the solid black windshield seal.

I installed the one in my TR4A, with some reservations. If it shrinks, I'll just get rid of it. It's not worth the hassle.

Isn’t the finishing strip there to help secure the windshield in place? I believe it is for more than just cosmetic purposes…

Well, that's what is often claimed, but in reality it does virtually nothing to secure the windshield. With or without the strip, that windshield isn't going anywhere the car doesn't go. The windshield rubber really holds it in very tightly.

Looking at general purpose window seals you can by in length as for boats that look the same but no locking strip just black putting cut seam at the top of glass. They come in sizes to match the glass and the frame so inside and outside can be different size . I got some from a auto glass Co. for the side windows on a hard top.

That little piece is ridiculous. It never fits right. Usually too small, leaving a gap, or just falls off. Fuhgeddaboutit.

Its a pretty big gap to forget
