Windshield Replacement

78MGB

My 78 MGB has a badly pitted windshield. Would it be better to have a pro replace it or go for it myself? Can any auto glass shop do this? Any advice would be apprecieated.

Cheers!!!

You'd much rather take a beating than do that one yourself!!

Let a REPUTABLE shop do it. If/when they break the glass, they're responsible for replacing it - their dime, not yours. From the boards, it seems this is one job almoat everyone despises.

My wife and I did ours. That was eight years ago.

We're talking now.

I've done 2 of them it's a sucky job but with a little patience it's very doable to do your self.

If you're going to do it your self or have a shop do it make sure to get the triplex glass. Yes it costs more but the quality of the glass is so much better than any of the aftermarket stuff currently out there. Plus it actually fits and makes the assembly process much easier.

I've taken the windshield of our MGB to a professional glass shop three different time. Each time, I've had to redo it myself, with the help of my wife. I will skip the middleman in the future.
Cheers,

Yea, but you're in Bremerton
