Windshield Posts on a BT7

Greetings all. I have noticed that the side winshield posts on a few of the BT7s I've seen are either painted or buffed out aluminum. What was the correct way these posts came out of the factory?

Hi Steve,
The windshield posts were originally painted body color at the factory. I guess some folks like them better in buffed aluminum.
