Windshield glass

I found the best source for new glass is Pilkington https://www.pilkingtonclassics.com/. They come with the Triplex logo etched in. Hint: If you have it shipped to a business instead of your house, the shipping costs are much lower. I bought a replacement for my BN4, but they also make them for BTs.

I believe they use the same supplier as Moss. The glass seems soft. Pits and chips easily. My original (which I saved) has micro scratches from the wiper blades. But no chips or pits. I would love to get it polished and use it as I think the quality is far better. The first replacement I got did not match the curve of the chrome and had to be exchanged.

I Agree with John:encouragement:

I installed a British Victoria-sourced windshield on my '60 BN7, replacing one that someone had apparently scored with a diamond right in front of the driver. I can't say how the windshield will fend off the usual damaged one gets on windshields, but I am perfectly satisfied with the product. I bought the rubber strips and the corner pieces along with the windshield. When I finally got it all together--and it can be challenging--I found my L-shaped corner pieces would not draw down the corners of the windshield frame. The originals, predictably, were roached with rust. I plugged two of the holes on on limb of each of the top L pieces, filled the holes and redrilled them closer together so that I could pull the four corners of the windshield snuggly together. This had nothing to do with the windshield, itself, but in the fit of the corner pieces. I probably would have bought from Pilkington had I known they offered the glass. My car has a Smitty transmission. That factor, the basic unoriginality of the car, makes me unconcerned about details like windshield glass markings.
