Windshield Gasket ???

Hi All --

The project is going slow, but sure. Have the car at the body shop & if I'm lucky - I'll have it back and start 'throwin' stuff on it in a month and back to driving.

Am I optomistic or what??

The question I have is that I am contemplating replacing the windshield gasket. It works (does not leak) - it just looks tired and with a new paint job / interior / dash / carpet / seats - etc ... why stop there?

How difficult is this project (I'm doing all of the above except the paint and have done 99% of all the work on the car sans engine rebuild - although helped pull & put back in).

Chances of breaking the windshield? Difficulty of the project in all?

I took mine apart and gave up trying to get it back together. Farmed it out under $100 to a local glass shop. I'd go ahead and get a kit to replace all the windshield rubber pieces, and get replacement screws, especially for the top of the windshield frame. There's different sizes of these and you have to be careful where you place them. Put too long of a screw in and run the risk of cracking the glass.

It's not easy. Farm it out to anyone who is willing to take it on...several windshield shops I took it to wouldn't touch it. Anyone who is reputable, and will (more or less) guarantee the work and charge you somewhere around $100 or so I would take-
