Windshield distortion?

I have had problem with a slightly blurred vision when driving my TR6. I thought it might be due to the serious allergies I have had this spring or maybe a diabetes complication. I can see well enough but it is really annoying.

Last night on the way home from a 270 mile day trip I realized I could see just fine when I was not looking through the windsheild.

Has anyone else had this happen? And more importantly, where can I get a good quality replacement?

Did you check the usual suspects - Moss, Vicky Brit, TRF? I don't know anything about the quality of their replacement windshields. I suspect they all come from the same source.

Your problem did give me a great idea. I think I'll take my windshield down to the local eyeglass shop and see if I can have it ground to match my prescription. That way I won't have to wear eyeglasses when I drive! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I don't think it is the glass but possibly the film that makes it saftey glass. It doesn't distort things just makes them bluury, like headlights for example. I even had my eyes checked and everything is fine there. Then last night I realized that when I looked over the windshield I could see just fine. Maybe I need to sit on a box so I can see over it all the time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The plastic layer between the two outer layers of glass (Triplex) will tend to yellow over the years in some older vehicles. That plus the outer layer of glass may well be scratched from years of windshield wiper use, although that is doubtful on the Triumph because the wipers are so poor and often never work, or who really drives their beloved cars in the rain anyway. (RainX) I bought my glass from TRF and the price including shipping was within reason. I followed the instructions for installing it, using the clothesline rope and , voila!, it worked like a charm. All the time my family jewels were somewhere up near my throat.

I too bought a windshield from TRF and it came crated like a mini coffin. It's at the body shop along with the remaining parts to be installed in doors. The price was reasonable, they did have it on stock (in the winter when I ordered it) and they were over $100.00 less than the local yokels when it came to price.
I look forward to looking out of it once again.

It is really strange. We took it out yesterday during the day and did not have any problem. But the other evening both my wife and I noticed it. The problem seems to be from headlights and sign reflections. Otherwise we could see the road just fine. It was in the high 50's temp wise and there was a lot of humidity. We did notice condensation on the gages but none on the windshield.
What bothered me more than anything was we were driving through about 60 miles of country where there is a high deer population. We saw several feeding next to the road. When I can see clearly they don't bother me much.
We are going to check it out again one of these evenings to make sure if it is the windshield itself, if it is there will be a new one in the very near future. The way it sounds, probably from TRF. Thanks guys.
