TR2/3/3A windshield buffer bracket

Trying to fit the windshield post 60k tr3.The lower glass and frame are about 3/4" to far to the rear to allow positioning of the buffer bracket/rearview mounts, which I believe are stacked, using same holes. The mirror would fit alone. The glass is a VB replacement that I would not recommend but it seems slightly more curved in this area(way more in the corners) but after looking at an an original, year unknown glass I don't think the glass is the problem.Stanchions don't appear bent.Any thoughts apreciated, ThanksTom

More curve on the glass should help the situation. If it's not the glass, then it would have to be the stanchion positioning. If you can get it within about 1/2", the glass should safely flex to make up the rest.

On my 61 TR3A I used a new Victoria British windshield glass but had no problem with the center support fitting. On my TR3A the stanchions bolt directly to the body and don't use the DZUZ Fasteners. Not sure if that would make a difference.

Bob

Well I know you don't want to hear this, but are you sure the glass has been installed into the frame, with the bottom of the frame positioned properly? The bottom frame should bend forward, not rearward. The lower frame piece can be installed right side on the left, making the bow rearward instead of forward.

Thanks for all the replies.Looks like I set the glass a little low in the frame trying to keep the lower corners filled, causing the frame to be a little wide in the middle.Im glad you got the VB galss to fit.Did you have to fill the lower corners with sealer?I wish Vb had a note that the shape is not exact to original. Thanks Tom

I used some 3M sealer in the lower corners. It is the type that comes in the tube. Be careful, the stuff will run through and spread all over out the opposite side. I put some tape over the opposite side to keep it from spreading all over. I to wonder why VB doesn't make the glass to the correct shape at the bottom corners. My car is just an old beater so for the price I was ok with the VB glass, but I would not recommend it for a restored nor concours car.

Bob

I would not recommend this VB glass for any reason. It is the wrong shape and size. The reason they get away with this poor copy is probably most are in the same situation as me.I paid 80 bucks shipping, and thought I could compensate for the poor fit,and now I will probably live with it until I have to take it apart to replace glass or rechrome frame.I will call them to see what they say but expect it will be along the lines of -we haven't had any complaints. Thanks,Tom

About 4 months ago I got a full credit return from VB for the windshield that was junk. They called it a one time deal and it was fine with me. They did not even want the glass back after seeing the pictures I sent them. They have no in-house customer service for problems like this so it took some haggling and collecting names. It's a real shame they still sell the glass knowing the problems.

Thanks Kieth.I did call VB and the contact said he would write it up for customer service and someone should be contacting me within 48 hours. He did look up history of this part and said the only thing showing was some inquiries about measurements,no poor fit complaints. Thanks Tom
