the switch has four terminals, marked 1 2 3 and 4

the restoration of the dash is nearly complete, except for a few minor items. Like the hookup of the wiper control switch.

Unfortuanely, two labels fell off the wires for this switch. now i do not know which wire belongs to terminal #3 or to terminal #4.

What color wire gets #3 terminal?
What color wire gets #4 terminal?

thanks in advance.

Mike - my MkIV wiring diagram indicates the following

Term 1 = Brown, w/Light Green tracer
Term 2 = Red, w/Light Green tracer
Term 3 = Green
Term 4 = Blue w/Light Green tracer.

Hope this helps.

Ross, i will give that a try.

Worst thing is that i was not able to test the wiper motor before i started the dash restoration project. Previous to loosing the wire markers.....

the only electrical item that was functioning before i began was the brake lights. Took two months to find everything and get lights, gauges, blower motor running.

this will be the last thing. those colors look good too.

I will letcha know, ross /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I now have wiper motor and functioning wiper blades!

However, the switch is a two position switch. I get the same speed out of each position. Is this correct?

I was expecting either intermittant or two speeds.

What gives?

unless it is something inside the switch itself....i connected the four wires as Ross suggested.

the switch is an aftermarket replacement just obtained from SpitBits.

Mike - do you have a two-speed motor?

The two-speed motor came in withthe MkIV, but you might check hust in case. Is it a round wiper motor or kind of square? Round is the two-speed.

Do you have a column switch or dash-mounted?
