Windscreen wiper -60 BT7

Help... My 60 BT7 is almost ready to come out of the shop after 48 years. Yes, forty-eight years in the garage last 10 years in restoration.. My last mechanical thing to do was plug in the windscreen wiper. When I pulled the switch the wipers traveled about halfway then the fuse popped as did a second one.

I assume I am going to have to pull the whole unit out to repair. Anyone have idiot instructions on what to do?

I would guess that the grease inside has hardened. The top plate comes off fairly easily with 5 or 6 screws. Clean out the old grease and pack it with new grease. It goes back together the same way it came apart. One thing to note is the position of the round cap, which can rotate in the top plate. The position of this round cap determines where your wipers will stop when turned off. Either note the position and put it back the same way, or figure on adjusting it after you get the motor re-positioned under the dash. I did the latter, and it wasn't very easy, so I would recommend marking the round cap before taking off the top plate.

Hope this helps... my memory of this isn't great.
