Windblocker

Anyone using a wind blocker on thier MG. How easy are they to install, and who has the best one? Thanks.

Tom Rynne has the best one, IMHO...easy to install, quality item that works great!

Did I not see a nice one in the Moss catalog?

I hate them. I think they look awkward on a classic car and make a convertible feel like a T-Top. But I also realize that not everyone wants a real open cockpit feel like older cars have. So if you really have to install one, check out Tom's windblockers at https://www.morspeedperformance.com/

Tom makes the Moss ones, and he'll sell them cheaper than Moss directly.

As bad as they may seem it does allow the wife/girl friend to go along and not get blown out of the seat.

I for one think it will do the trick keeping the other half a bit happier when we are on the move.

As you get older, wives as well, she is 66 now anything I can do to make her a happy camper I will.

Yep, the ones in Moss catalog are Toms...but contact him direct & tell him you heard from us....the only thing they do is buffer the wind - the way his are designed, you don't lose thconvertible feeling.

I just bought one of Tom's windblockers a month ago at the urging of my husband. We bought it not so much for the wind reduction, but the noise reduction when we're on long road trips or rallys. It cuts the noise significantly and you're actually able to carry on a conversation without screaming and saying, "Huh?" all the time. I don't mind the wind, I love it, but it's nice to travel for several hours in the car and be able to talk in conversational tones. I don't use it around town, don't intend to. Just on longer trips. And probably in the colder weather when the top's still down and it dips to 45 or so late at night. The back of Chuck's neck always gets cold, hopefully it will help.

Ive heard, that you cannot fasten hood cover completly with these is this true?, and what about the new leather covered ones in moss, anyone try them yet?

My wife has long-ish hair but she knows I'll never put a windblocker on my car. How do we compromise? She gets to buy all the cute car hats she wants. Actually I don't think she wants a windblocker either but she loves the hats so I don't complain. When she's happy driving in a MG, so am I. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I built this windblocker for my wife. She still won't ride in my car.
Kenny, I removed the MG decal just for you. And Janel.

I just purchased and installed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif the NEW MOSS windblocker.

I own the one every spoke of previosly on here, and I don't like it. I wasn't happy with the looks or the fit. And by using the blocker, I wasn't able to use the tonneau bar. It looked like an after-thought.

With the new blocker, life is good. Fits nice, Looks great. It looks like it was meant to be on the car. It actually works better the the old one.

The new wind blocker is not in the catalogs yet, but it is in the MOSS website under new products. The only down side to the new blocker is that it is more expensive then the old one.

Don't you remember, expensive is not an issue when keeping SHMBO happy.

I put some velcro on the bottom edge of Tom's windblocker & the matching pieces on my tonneau cover...now, I don't need the bars & the tonneau looks like is should.

I don't really care how much nicer the leather trimmed on at Moss looks, Tom's are $100+ cheaper shipped. As far as I'm concerned, it's a tool, not an accessory, and when I have it on, it comes off as soon as I stop driving it.

Also, I don't have any trouble with the cover fitting properly.

Hmm, I don't have tonneau bars for Emma. Or Binabox. What are they?

it's a bar that goes across behind the seats to the points where the top frame connects to the car. It's used to keep the tonneau from sagging when you have it pulled back to expose the seats. I've learned it's not meant to be used with the convertible top cover. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hope that helps

On a midget, the tonneau bar brackets are also used when attaching a hard top.

Hehehehehe, Bill...

We was just funnin' wit ya a few months ago... Janel put me up to posting the opposite photoshopped one on the triumph board though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

It's definately a very nicely designed windblocker... and I like the integrated third brake light on the rollbar too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
