I was forced by circumstance to have Windows 7 installed on my computer. I have mixed feelings about it, so far. My greatest frustration is not being able to stay logged on to our favorite forum. Something in the security settings I'm guessing. I thought I had it corrected, but something made it revert. Any thoughts or encouragement much appreciated.
 
7 just takes some getting used to with the added security features. Frustration for some of us, until we get it figured out. Your problem, I would agree is more than likely a setting in W-7, or possibly your Internet connection. Download and Install "Advance System Care Free" and let it run. It might be a registry problem, which it will pick up and correct, among'st other things. Nice program, and it's free! PJ
 
It shouldn't have anything to do with the operating system - it's your browser. Make sure you have cookies enabled on whatever browser you're using. Win 7 comes with either IE8 or IE9, if you're using that browser then read this. If you're using Firefox read this.

If you have cookies enabled and still can't hold a login between sessions then check and see if you've installed some overzealous spyware checker that thinks cookies are demonic evil things and eats them when you're not looking.
 
Are you checking the "Remember Me" box when you log in?
 
Clicking that causes a login failure.it's some wierd issuethat only occurs with this site on IE on Win7.

I eventually gave up and use Chrome now. :wink:
 
I wish I could be more help, but I'm new to Win 7 (have it installed on my new iMac (yes, I said iMac). But what Scot said makes sense - look at your browser settings first and make sure cookies can be accepted from our site. Also try clearing the cache (history and cache files) from your browser. I hav Win 7 with IE9 and no problems at all.

I don't know what the problem is, but I can assure that that Win7 is not the problem. I have win7 on my laptop and stay logged in with not problem
 
Thank you all, very much. It is always a pleasure on this forum. I have fooled with the privacy settings and the situation seems to be resolved, at least for now. I am heartened to know I am not alone and to hear that Win7 is not the devil I had initially percieved. My Renee, in fact, wants it on her computer after using mine briefly. So, I will "endeavor to persevere".
 
A little late to join in but I also have Windows 7, Intel i7 chip and no problems here.
 
Win7 is a wonderful piece of software. As with anything, it takes a while to learn a new operating system so there are bound to be a few WTF moments.
 
I won't go so far as to call it "wonderful" but will say Win7 is what Vista ~should~ have been. 7 is a good, solid O/S with very little to interfere with average users needs. It has too much overhead IMO but manages RAM better than that last mess (Vista).

I'd like it to not be so "automagic" where it comes to the networking side, it makes decisions on its own about networking/security that can give ya fits trying to get it to play well with the rest of the children on a "mixed" (multiple O/S) LAN.

...and now we're gonna see Win8 released. *$hee$h*
