Will this lid work with my HS2 carburetor float chamber?

Hello everyone,

I was rebuilding my carbs on my Morris Minor (which has a Sprite 1275 engine in it) and I managed to break off one of the tabs that holds the float pin in place. So now I am in search of a replacement lid for the thing. See below for a picture of what I broke.

I found one on eBay which looks very similar but it has a completely different looking mechanism for the float. Does anyone know if my float from my old one would work with this sucker? Mine is the first 2 pictures below with the float in my hand. The other two pictures is the one from eBay from Israel!

Thank you for your help!

John

I am not familiar with that one from Israel. Notice the difference in the casting of the inlet tower. I would go with the style you currently have (exactly) rather than mix and match. Your lid will have a vent hole below the fuel inlet pipe, you need that type. Later versions will work that have a separate pipe sticking out the side for a breather/overflow. I should have one, but will have to check. The type from Israel eBay is a very early HS2 T2 float bowl cover that has a brass float (no hole in center for a center bolt like on Bugeye H1 carbs).

Awsome. Thank you for the info. I think I was able to track one down. Hopefully it will be right! Frustrating that I managed to bust the tab off a perfectly good part!
