As you found, the Spitfire tach/speedo are smaller. Even if the size had been right, you have to pay attention to the turns-per-mile (TPM) number on the speedo (usually marked near the odometer window with a 3 or 4 digit number). Mechanical tachs have a similar ratio number printed somewhere on their faces.
