MGB Will a top for a '70 MGB fit a '79?

Just curious, will a top advertised for a '63-'70 MGB fit a '79. I think so but just want to make sure. Any info at all would be great. Thanks!!

The packaway and optional grey folding frames were fitted to GHN3/4/5 cars to chassis number 219000. From GHN5-219001 (1971) on the black folding frame was fitted. The two types of folding frame hoods are not interchangeable so please ensure that the type of frame in use is correctly identified (beware of frames that have been repainted)

Thanks Emma for the quick reply. I guess what I really need to know, and I should have been more specific, is whether just the top for a '63-'70 would fit on the frame of a '79. The reason I'm asking is because there is a top for a '63-'70, new, at a very reasonable price... Just hoping it would work. If that was answered in the above post, please pardon my ignorance and don't laugh too hard. Please put it into a yes or no answer. You know, for us simple people. Thanks

One thought, you wont get the zip out rear window on an older top. I use a 77 or newer top on mine to get the zip out rear window. It is cooler in the summer with the top up and that window down here in Florida.

Thanks, Bob. I have posted before that my frame is a little questionable as far as cutting the top. This will be an affordable enough top to find out for sure if I am going to need a new frame. If this top gets cut, I'm out less than a hundred dollars. I'll know if it was my frame cutting the tops or my inability to put the top down correctly. Many thanks... Should have pics of mine to post before too long. I'm starting the restoration on her again. Will keep y'all posted.

Ah yes, I remember you said it was going bad around the windows. If you are the one I answered asking if you folded the back before you put it down.

That's me. Wish me luck. I put her in the shop Friday for some minor work and should be bringing her home tomorrow. If all goes well, I should be able to get her registered and on the street tomorrow. I just hope I don't have too much trouble with emissions. Might be posting soon for more advice but hopefully not.

Fantastic, now you can have fun with those cool evening top down rides in the country. And with fall coming maybe even some Saturday or Sunday afternoon rides. Its funny how those short errand trips can turn into a long ride with a LBC.
