I have a 100-6 with F & R drum brakes . I am looking at some 60 spoke 15 X 4.5 wire wheels on Ebay . I told him I have drum brakes , guy says his book says they will fit but I have read that I need 48 or 72 spoke wheels . Do some brands of 60 spoke wheels fit drum brakes ?

You should be fine with 60 spoke wheels, 48 were standard at one time but yuou need the extra spokes for strength if your going to corner fast.

Call Allen Hendrix at Hendrix Wire Wheel for this wheel issue. Some wheels will
fit but not all. Tele# 336-852-8909.

60 spoke 15x4.5 will NOT fit front drums on a BN-4 or BN-6.
However a DB60155 custom build Dayton 15x5 60 spoke will. Some work MAY still be required on the drums on the front only. As in a little grinding and a balance. I have done this alot.
A Dayton 459 15x5 72 spoke will fit. A standard 457F Dayton 15x5 72 spoke will NOT fit.
Soooo Here are your choices. D450 48 spoke 15x4 Dayton or Dunlop
D459 72 spoke 15x5 Dayton
DB60155 72 spoke 15x5 Dayton
I hope that answers your question. If not ...you can call me at the number in above post. WHEELGUY

I'll vouch for them NOT fitting. My brother put them on my car and MANY broken spokes were the result! Twenty-one (21) on the left front, and eleven (11) on the right front.

I replaced them with 72 spoke wheels from a TR6 and they cleared the drums (fr/rr) just fine.

Randy is correct.. A TR-6 wheel will work also.. However... It is a 15x6 inch wide rim. That is 2 inches wider than the original wheel. The two inches are to the outside. That is perfect for running fat tires. If you just want a daily driver it may be too much for you.. Wheelguy

Hey Wolf,
Like Randy and Wheel Guy said, 60 spoke wheels will not fit the front drum
brakes of a BN4 or BN6. I know as I mistakenly put 60 spoke on a BN4
with the results - not as bad thankfully - as Randy mentioned. IMHO,
unless you are racing your 100-6, stick with the original type wheels.
Regards,
Mike

60s won't fit. I wanted to replace my 48s with 60s and found out it doesn't work. 72s will fit. I stayed with the 48s because the 72s looked too busy to me.

thanks for all the help guys , you saved me from spending funds that I do not have , I will kept my search to 48 spoke wheels .

If you are staying with 48 spoke.... The Dunlops of today for the painted wheels are excellant. Moss sells them and they cost less than the Daytons. If you are going for chrome.. the Daytons have a far better plating than the Dunlops and will stay rust free longer. Wheel guy

Woops, guess that has taught me a lesson to double check first.
