Ok now has anyone installed wildwood calipers on their TR6

I was thinking about it, but sticking with the original rotor and just replacing the calipers and pads. plus there is the option for different size pistons, the smaller pistons appear to send more braking to the rear than the larger piston. will have to talk to Richard about the choices

Have put the Wilwoods on my XKE, they made a world of difference. TR6's do alright from the factory, depends on how you drive it. I have a set of Toyota calipers I want to put on my TR6 but haven't got to that project yet.

I have had issues with the current calipers leaking and have rebuilt them 2 times. Richard from goodparts also said to upgrade the rear wheel cylinders to 7/8 inch with the selected wildwoods in front and I should have a wonderful brake set up.
 
What are the selected wildwoods? Are these from Richard as well, or from another source? If so can you please provide a link as brake work is on my list of potential winter projects. Cheers, Mike
 
I have Wilwoods from Richard Good on the 4A. I had vented discs which I installed on the car during the Big Rebuild. They were Peugeot (!) discs machined and drilled to suit the TR and the original calipers were split and a spacer inserted to match the thicker discs. This was done by RaceBrakes here in Melbourne. I was never totally happy with the callipers as the original bolts were re-used and they seemed too short.

I ordered the callipers with 1.62in pistons and have no problems with front to rear balance. My discs matched the diameter and thickness of the Goodparts ones so they bolted straight on. MUCH lighter too! I strongly recommend braided hoses front and rear. They make it feel as though your foot is connected to the wheel cylinders. I have a TR6 dual circuit master cylinder so your car should feel similar.

Hey Mike, I purchase the calipers from Richard, and they have the 4=1.62 inch pistons and the 7/8 rear wheel cylinders. I searched the wildwood site and could not cross reference anything, also purchasing them from Richard Good, you also get good information from him directly about what he has done to his TR6 and first hand info on how it performs. Thats great information thats free. So if I have to pay 20 percent more, I feel like the knowledge is worth the extra money, Try asking a sales associate at wildwood about calipers for a triumph TR6 and I be you get, " is that a car?" so far I installed Richards CV axles on the rear, then the R200 differential with his installation kit and I have been extremely happy with those upgrades.... and both were hassle free installations, and the good thing was I installed the CV axles on the original Diff, and when I put the R200 in I had to have different length shaft on the CV axles. Richard sent me the corrent length shafts and gave me a core on the existing shaft when I returned them, so great customer service to boot. So back to the calipers, I figured if I had to take the calipers off to install the new Heavy duty axles might as well replace the calipers too. I am running out of car projects. Maybe I can work on someone elses TR6, you provide the parts and the money and the beer!

Richard is about 35 miles from my house; I've stopped in quite a few times and Richard is always eager to offer help when needed.
A good resource in my backyard.
 
I installed the Wilwood calipers from GP back in May. Here's what he told me about piston size: "I have the front calipers with 1.38" or with 1.62" pistons. The 1.38" will provide a better front to rear balance when used with stock rear brakes but will require a little more pedal effort. The 1.62" are best used with upgraded rear brakes."

While you could source the calipers directly you'd have to do some machine work to get them to fit properly. The picture below shows what work he does to get them to fit.

I kind of assume it wasnt a direct bolt up and that some machining has been done on them. and I did go with the larger size piston and the upgraded rear wheel cylinders, shouldnt be too hard a job, I figure getting the old sub axle out will be the hardest part

I don't have them on the TR6, but did switch over to them on the TR8 and I like them very much.
 
I wish I could get the ones on the Wedge to act correctly.
Drivers side squeal like a stuck pigs and makes a ton of dust.

Have you tried the Hawk pads from Woody? I put them on my TR7 and it made a world of difference.

the calipers have arrived, the uprated axles and timkin bearings will be here today
