Wife's "new" toy

Well, the wife says my Bugeye is too crude. Too loud,
rides rough and zero creature comforts. She wants luxury
things like fold down top, roll up windows, trunk and
door handles. Geeez...women.
Sooo..I picked this up for her today. Old English white w/ black
interior. Drives like a dream. Zip out rear window and tonneau cover. Low mileage. All original. 1971.

Re: Wife's "new" toy

Nicely done!

Re: Wife's "new" toy

Beautiful! I had a BGT, same color and year. I miss that car.

Re: Wife's "new" toy

Great find!

How absolutely civilised of you!! :smirk:

Re: Wife's "new" toy

It does have THE most important feature she wanted as well.
A luggage rack. She's been wanting one to carry a antique
wicker suitcase for some time.
I absolutely refused to drill holes in the Bugeye rear deck.
It also HAD to be white with no stickers or stripes and no
rubber bumpers. Geeesh...women can be picky.

Excellent find! What large town is Pumpkintown near?

When we come down out of the hills and put on shirts and shoes
to get a little taste of culture we head to Greenville S.C.
Hendersonville N.C. is about the same distance. We chowed down on some fine German cuisine there last night.
Both cities are about 30 minutes away.
I work in Pickens S.C. which is a small town about 9 miles
away via two lane blacktop with no traffic lights the whole way.
10 minute drive unless I'm in a hurry. :driving:

Thanks Hap

BTW, it was our good friend Hap who sniffed this one out.
BIG OL THANK YOU Hap!

There's no "can" about it.

Re: Thanks Hap

Nice!

I have a "Snowberry White" '69 with the factory luggage rack that looks similar.

~My '69~

Along with the luggage rack, mine's got wire wheels, the skinny "banjo" steering wheel, wind up windows, a new top (as of last month) and a factory AM radio!.

Very civilized!
I took mine to our college graduation last night and got a lot of nice comments about it.

G'luck with your's!

That's a beauty! Snowberry white. I like that.
Tomorrow she "debuts" with the Foothills British Car Club on a Poker run into the mountains.
Looks like I'm going to be chauffeured for the day. :jester:

Re: Thanks Hap

Our current one is OEW. I like it.

Purring along

The old girl really purred today on the Poker Run.
Drove it about 200 total miles. No problem. Ran
cool as a cucumber even stuck in traffic for several
minutes at Helen Ga. Used no oil but I'd bet she'll
mark her cardboard tonight. :jester:
Nice turn out for the Poker Run. Morgans, Bs, TRs,
'58 Jag, Mini,BGT and a Z4.
Great fun.

must have accessory

I found the wife an antique wicker suitcase/picnic basket today.
Made in Merry Ol England. I hoping that'll shut her up for
a while. :jester:

Re: must have accessory

*snork*

Re: must have accessory

Yep, I think you got a keeper there David, the wifey and the B  I went out Sunday morning for a ride before the group headed back from Helen, stumbled onto Hwy. 348, wow what a choice road. We all partied down in Helen, Sat. night, Vickie got her tattoo, which that whole process required lots of encouragement (AKA booze) I going to have to have a sprited ride that goes up Hwy 348 in the future. That MGB is going to spoil you, they are like Cadillacs compared to Sprites for longer runs.

Re: must have accessory

Gundy, man are you the guy that E-mailed me about my MGB LE on E-bay? Your wifes pleasure is my pain. You should have gotten her the black beauty!!!

Just kidding, nice car, regards, Greg in Lincoln

Re: must have accessory

Yep...that'd be me. Your's is a real beauty but she wanted white and instant gratification so it needed to be local
enough for her to drive it home. We scoped out several disappointing examples locally before we lucked out finding
her white one. Believe me if the white one had not appeared that
black beauty was on our wish list.
Again, your "B" is indeed a black beauty! :driving:
LOL...what gave you the idea it was me? Pumpkintown residence perhaps? :jester:

Spirited rides are for the Bugeye. :jester:
Lynn didn't like me down shifting her baby on the Poker Run.
We let the GPS guide us home from Helen and we took roads we've never driven. Great fun.
Lynn solo'ed in her "B" yesterday to go visit her cousin at the summer house in Saluda N.C. That's a great drive up through the watershed area. They went all over the place shopping. Brevard, Cashiers, Hendersonville, etc.
No problems unless you count not being able to load some antique furniture on a "B".
BTW: Jeannie said all LBCs are welcome to park at her place for Coon Dog Days July 11th. She's in walking distance to the festival. She was GREEN over Lynn's "B" as she had one in college.
