Why Leaf Springs Fail

WOW ! ! ! Way KEWEL Dougie. What in the world made you think of putting a cammer in there?

I'll have to scope the rear end in my V8 Healey car. I wonder how much IT dances around.

This might answer a lot of questions why your big Healey has leaf spring issues.

Dougie,
That is an amazing view. What kind of camera setup did you use?

I didn't create the video, but was just as amazed with axle travel.

Hi All -

I don't know if you notice, but this earlier suspension winds up every time he accelerates. This is why they put the radius arms on the BJ8...

Cheers,

And......... that's why may of us use tramp-bars on our big Healey racers.

What I found interesting in the video was that the rear end wound up every time (a bunch) on acceleration but I didn't notice and any big deflection under braking... interesting. I was expecting much more winding under braking than acceleration... but, I'd be wrong.

Impressive video! My takeaway is that the whole axle assembly performed quite well in spite of the primitiveness of the technology.

:savewave:

You will need three tramps OK!!!

BTW

They aren't allowed to use radius arms on that car as it's not permitted by FIA for the class in which races.

Rinus says the car actually reached 165 mph at Le Mans!!!
