Why is this car worth $10K?

Yes CsW, that is a nice looking car (AND it is a Midget). The hubcaps look great as well. Could you post some interior pictures and some engine pics?

If you look around a little you find cars like CsW has for a lot less. For $10,000 I would be looking for more car(bigger) or it had better be a Bugeye. Even if you don't know how to turn wrenches you still need to educate yourself on any car so you can chose wisely.

If CsW's car has a proper restoration, then it could easily be a $6000 car. If it is "lipstick only" then probably worth much less.

I'll try to get some additional pictures up later. I would not really call my car restored. It is an original rust free car that has had a new paint job and interior. I think the rest is stock. When I bought the car it had a Sprite speedometer in it so the mileage is unknown. It has since been replaced with the correct Jeager type.

Oh, dear, there's another one.

From the wording of the ad, it sounds like the seller saw the previous car, thought "Gee, I can get $10K for mine!" and put it up for sale. Note that the starting price is almost identical, and he points out a lot of the same things. Looks like a very nice car, but still...

Man, if 62 Sprites are worth $10K, I'm gonna buy one fast and start restoring it!

Nah, you'd still lose money...

The ad has many mistakes in it. It's not an early MkII at all. It is actually pretty late as 948s go. Mine is in the HAN6 7xxx range and has a much earlier engine 9CG 88xx. The seller is off the mark, but after all, it's the Buyer who should do the research in this case.

Wait a minute; that second one looks like mine. I didn't know I had so much money sitting out there under my shed! Like I said; hope they get it.

Hi Folks,

Well; That auction ended. Since I was`nt watching it; "WHAT HAPPENED"?

Did It get another (3rd) bid & make the Reserve happen or were his "Buddies" (1st. 2 Bids) smart enough not to go any further?

Just Curious,

Russ

Hi RickB,

Yep; I guess that is the one. I must have got a bit confused with the various ones that are out there.

Thanx for the Hds Up.

Russ

I kind of agree with the statement that rare = Nobody wanted it when it was new. With the spots of rust in the trunk, I would suspect that its been wet in there for a while at times and would want to check that closely. Especially the pockets around the rear tail lights where water can hang out and the door hinge/A pillar area is always something to look at real closely and I don't see any pictures showing a close up or that area.

Well Folks,

As I had Orig. posted & suspected may happen.

The auction ended with only 2 Bids (Friends) & Reserve Not Met. The next bid would have probably met the Reserve. Thats an easy way (Most of the Time) to get something sold; Especially a "Rare" car.
