A gas station about 30 miles from here had diesel fuel dumped into the underground gas tanks... The delivery driver mixed up the tanks.
Lots of cars that filled up expecting to get gas got diesel fuel... what a mess for the owners of the cars. They did report that the tanker company was going to foot the bills for all the repairs...

That's happened here before. I've dealt with a few gasoline cars filled with diesel. It depends on how strong the mix is, as to how much damage it does. It's better to get a full tank of diesel, because that usually shuts things down pretty quick, whereas a gas/diesel mix can allow it to run long enough to really gunk up sensors and cats. That's gonna be a mess.

Had a woman bring her diesel Rabbit into the dealership, she was REALLY PO'd, yelling at everyone in range. Car was nearly new and had "just stopped running!" ... y'all know where this is goin'...

The ditz had filled it with gasoline HERSELF.

"Sorry lady, warranty doesn't cover dumb."

Should have dumped a bottle of Hare Restorer in the tank doc... after all, it was a rabbit

 so you're sayin' she was one Hot Cross Bunny?

mehheh. Good'n, Elliot.

At the shop where I used to work, the bosses daughter once filled up with diesel. She couldn't figure out why it was running so bad, took us awhile to figure out what she had done.

VW was so overly conscientious of the possibility that gas/diesel getting mixed they did a recall of their diesel cars to change the filler tube so no one could even inadvertently switch the fuels. The problem was they never actually tested their modified filler tube in real world conditions. Not only was it impossible to put gasoline in the tank, it was impossible to put diesel in as well. Unless you held the pump at a trickle, the pump would click off. It was taking me 20 minutes to fill my car. I bitched long and loud to my VW dealer. I told them I was no moron and would NEVER put gas in a diesel car and their "dummy proof" fix was unacceptable. I didn't ask for them to be my nanny-state. Apparently, I wasn't the only one having problems with their "improvements" and they went ahead and reversed the filler tube modification.

The service rep quipped back to me while I was bitching "Well, at least with the TDI, you don't have to fill up very often". I wasn't amused. However, I guess turnabout was fair play. At an earlier service visit, I had a check engine light come on and the same rep told me it came on because the engine was missing. I told him after a brief search, I found the engine under the hood, right where it was supposed to be.

Good one saxman :encouragement:

LOL, well, you had a point though, that stupid cover !

I actually got the "engine missing" from a series of "maintenance squawks" from pilots to their maintenance staff. Stuff like this:

Pilot "Squawk" - Dead Bugs on Windsheild
Maintenance - Live bugs on order

I should probably go ahead and do them as a separate thread

Gotta watch out for some of those delivery drivers. Had one in No. California dump his fuel load into a monitoring well.
