TR6 Who was looking for the late TR6 exh manifold?

About a month ago, someone needed a late model TR6 exhaust manifold. I thought that I bookmarked the thread, but another senior moment must have hit me instead.

In any case, I think that I have a good one on my spare 75 block. I noticed today that it has the ports for air injection, but you can get plugs for those. The exhaust pipe was torched off, so I told Erik to heat the pipe/bolts off, as well as the studs, so that it can be reconditioned.

It appears to be OK, but I won't know for sure until we get it apart later this week.

Let me know if it's still in need. I thought that the request came from one of the west coast guys.

That was me, but I arranged a deal with one of the other fine members. Thanks for the offer and remembering.
I thought I saw someone else also looking.

Paul:

Will it work on an early head, i.e. my 250? I have a mint orig ANSA I picked up last fall that is set up for a dual system all the way through.

It came with a header pipe that goes from a single pipe header to a Y for the twin exh, but I'm not putting on a header.

If it's in decent shape & you think it will fit & the price is right I might be interested.

Thanks

Gary, bad news, it won't fit, the heads are configured different. Started in '72 with duels.

Gary,

I think that there is a difference in the spacing of the ports from early to late models.

I'm going to get it taken off and probably grit blasted if there are no cracks in it. I'll hang on to it in the event someone needs one down the road. I think that I even have a new stud set for it with a gasket to the header pipe that was left over from my original manifold before the headers.

The spacing difference is on the intake. I understood the exhaust to be the same.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the exhaust is the same right through.

The exhaust is backwards compatible. They went to a dual down pipe to try and make up for decreasing the CR in 1972.

So you're saying that it will fit Gary's 250 then? Maybe good news here Gary.

There are two different intake/exhaust manifold gaskets listed in the old TRF blue book with the break at engine # CC75000.

So then it must be the intake difference as Alan says?

So which has better flow; the early larger single, or the later with two smaller pipes?
