Hi Everyone,

I'm new here. I live in the East Bay and was just wondering who else is on here from around these parts. Might be useful to eventually connect and share a few resources! Or if anyone knows of reasonably priced mechanics who might work on Morris Minors around here!

Thanks!

John

John,
I'm across the bay in Pacifica.
Since I passed on my Jaguars, I lost track of local goings on.
When i was active there were lots of resources.

Hey Steve,

Yeah there are still some high-end places for Jaguars. But not much for us lowly Morris owners!

There were two places that would have loved the business here on the peninsula.
I think one went out of business and the other should have.

I'm just down the road from you in Concord and get this question all the time from Healey owners. Here's a list of shops that I know or at least heard of. The ones with an asterisk (*) have positive reports from our Club, Golden Gate Austin Healey Club).

Hi i am in
Pleasant hill, CA

Hey Timmer!

Nice to meet you. You are right next door! So....would you happen to know anyone around here who does moonlight paint jobs by chance? I want to get my Morris Minor painted!
Stop by our Cars & Coffee at Paris Baguette on Crescent Circle in Pleasant Hill on Tuesday mornings (9:30). There are a bunch of us who have a wealth of knowledge. Just look for a bunch of Austin-Healeys and a few other British cars.

Well thank you.....I will be there! I'm surprised you will let a lowly Morris in with such high-brow carriages!

Welcome John. I’m in the north bay. I’ve got a MM Traveller and a Sprite, but do my own work so can’t help you there. The list John posted looks pretty good.

Thank you! I'm also looking for someplace to do a low-end paint job if anyone in the area knows of a place. Do people still paint cars in their garage? That is how I painted mine many years ago.

Someone suggested I go to Earl Scheib in Concord so I took it there a couple days ago.

You won't beleive this but their estimate to JUST SPRAY IT if I do all the prep work is $5,000!

And if I want them to do the prep...they estimated $15k to $20k but then told me they really don't do that kind of work any more.

Yikes. Sure doesn't sound like the Earl Scheib I remember.

Try hot rod shops in your area. They are used to old cars. Also, If it is just minor prep work, try MACCO.

I've owned two vehicles that were painted by MAACO.
Not perfect,but really nice jobs.

ChefTush paints his cars in his garage, but you'll have to take your car to Canada!
