First snow storm of the season, around 17" last night.

Notice the PILE of snow at the end of the driveway? Whenever the DOT plows go by, we give each other the one-finger salute ....

And tomorrow night we get another storm. Fun!

Not as much as you but it's a mess out there and still snowing. Good thing I got the MG in and the bimmer out on Thursday night.

We've got about 15" here in RI.

And it's time to go start shoveling.

Soon..........maybe

Somehow our 2.8" of snow and sleet and freezing rain seems insignificant. We expect 6" more tonight and Sunday, but probably will have freezing rain mixed in too. Now I wish I did not have a corner lot to shovel.

Sleet and freezing rain are worse. Especially when driving. I'll take a foot of snow over a half inch of freezing rain/ice any day. As far as the corner lot goes, no envy here...

I realy dont miss it. As for the Minn. DOT plow's and them plowing in the driveway I hated it when I would be gone all week only to come home to a frozen hard mound of snow and ice. Geez that was back breaking to remove even the old jeep with the plow would not do it. Lets be careful out there guys dont over do it.

We are well past a new snow amount record for December and expecting another 4" tonight. At least we only had about 12" yesterday! At this point we are also several inches ahead of the mark at this time last year when we set a new all time snow amount. Seems it is all over, global warming at work.

I'm back, with a sore back. Luckily I have a guy who does the plow work on the ends of the driveway and front side walk. I have to widen them out and clean the cars, but it's not too bad. That rear patio is a killer though.

Big cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee and an afternoon nap seems in order as I watch the next wave start to come down. My wife gave me strict orders, "No more shoveling", so who am I to argue?

Mine too Paul and she bought me an electric shovel to do the back deck and front porch and the big snowblower does the rest of the driveway, only trouble is in the spring I have to rake the stones off the lawn and roof and put them back on the driveway lol

I just stopped to take a break. With more ice possible tomorrow I am only doing the walks half wide, and not even worrying about the back deck. But my daughter, her husband, and their 2 month old are getting ready to head north to his family near Boston. Worry about them on this drive but the other grandparents have not yet seen Harry. Everyone who is traveling for the holidays, please be careful. I need you all here in good health to keep me entertained. I can't live on just Dale's gloatings about Amos in the warm weather.

Just finished my plowing. Now it'll be easier to see what tomorrow's storm brings!

Time for a beer, chili, cornbread, and maybe ... a beer for dessert. Next job to tackle - adding a new cabinet and pull-out bins to a blank space in the kitchen wall.

:wall:

Plow safe guys.
Tom
PS - Dave R., if bad weather makes your daughter's family suffer "trip-us interruptus" on the way to Boston, they're welcome here. If they can stand pieces of lumber all over the place.

Actually, properly done, with good warmup, not too much load and good working flow, snow shoveling(or sand shoveling) and wood chopping(with an ax) are two of the best muscle building routines for the back, lower back, mid back, upper back and shoulders..

Just don't overload the shovel.

We've had a bunch of snow here in southern Alberta over the last week, along with an extended cold snap that really doesn't seem to be letting up at all, we're talking around -20 Celcius, on and on and on...

It is getting a little frustrating, especially right before Christmas when there are so many outdoor activities that effectively grind to a halt with cold weather.

Just gotta grin and bear it...

and the heart, trouble is too many people get out and just shovel without a thought as to how it should be done and then have a heart attack because it is probably the only physical work they have done in 12 months since the last snowfall, now we who have lbc's know what physical labour is

Hey - I'm no mechanic, and no carpenter ... and I've lost ALL my marbles.

Snowed about 6 inches here yesterday. Went out to start the A.T.V. {the one that has the snow blade}..... NO GO  Came in, got online searched an A.T.V. forum for the possible reason. Didn`t like what I found at all, sounded expensive to fix! Went back out, looked to see what tools were needed to explore the possible reason it wouldn`t start {Supposed sheared wood ruff key on the magneto} Before tearing into it I decided to check the oil {why I can not say I just did} Found the oil level to be quite low so I added some to top it off. Then for another unknown reason I decided to give starting it another try. After some cranking and cranking {It was about 20 degrees out} It finally began to spit and sputter, after some coaxing from the throttle and choke it finally took off and began running. I did manage to get the drive way cleared although the A.T.V. now needs a new spark plug i`m sure. {I had to wire brush the spark plug to get it to run today} More snow on the way too!
At least I don`t have to take it to the M.C. shop and spend a bunch of $ to get it running. AND I learned a valuable lesson ... it seems the A.T.V. has a safety switch for the oil level, low oil level NO GO! Which is a good thing I suppose, although it did manage to give me a few more Grey hairs i`m sure! And yes I hate the road crew plowing my driveway in too but at least now that I have the A.T.V. I can and do plow it right back into the street as soon as they are out of sight!

grey hair we can handle Kerry, now pulling them out is another matter :wall:

Luckily when the snow came I got sick but my son did some initial shoveling. Still sick and now it's raining, so hopefully the rest will melt. Projected mid thirties and dropping. We'll see. I might have to get my lazy butt off this seat and do some cleaning.
