Whipped Cream

Turns out the "Whipped Cream Lady" on the cover of the famed Tijuana Brass LP (Herb Alpert), who fueled the fevered dreams of 1960's boys everywhere, is 79, alive and well, and living in Longview,WA (not far from me!). An artist and retired model, Dolores Erickson still makes hearts beat alittle faster.

So it turns out she was wearing shaving cream and not whipped cream, to which I can only say:

Shaving cream makes sense for an extended photo shoot, won't melt off like whipped cream. Just like I've read that ice cream tends to actually be whipped potatoes to last under the lights and hours it may take.

Mashed spuds have been an ice cream substitute in product photos for decades. Plexiglass or Lucite ice cubes, shaving cream for whipped cream... many other "tricks of the trade" as well.

And Kayro syrup and red food coloring will make fake blood, in case anyone would want to DO that. :eeek:
