While my new roof was being out on

On the first day of my new roof installation, six guys came down from the roof and asked about my TR6 restoration project. One guy fondly remembered his TR4A, an other his GT6. Both lamented having let them go. Discussion continued about cars, and the demise of the Triumph line and how few of them you see about these days. If nothing else, my project is worth the time and effort if it can bring smiles and stories from those that had or wanted.

Sorry wedgies, they all agreed that the TR6 was the last of the 'real' Triumphs. (I still want a TR8.)

Well, apparently they're not aware of the prewar Vitesses, Dolomites, Twelves and Continentals...THOSE are the last of the REAL TRIUMPHS. Anything after WWII is just a Standard. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ah, still refer to the TR6 as the Big Triumph.

The TR6, "Last of the Angry Sports Cars"

If ever you get an hour or two with an 8, with the logical engine in it, you will have a problem with those statements. The 4.6L, last of the Range Rover engines turns the wedge into a real fire breather.

The lazy 190 BHP makes a real statement, but with just a little tuning you can have 280 BHP, like me.
Although it does low 13 second quarter miles, its still mild enough for me to drive it into the city to visit my cardiac specialist.

Nothing like a bit of power under foot to keep this old blokes heart going.

I am amazed you had roofers that knew what a Triumph was. The guys that did our house were pretty scarey. The contractor ahd to go get two of them out of jail just to do the job.

Scary to think who's on your property.

Sure like the sound of some big horse power. Admit
to liking the ole TR6 body, but sure wouldn't be
opposed to driving an 8. Hear enough about em to make
me a believer that they're fun.

Keep another old bloke's heart pumping.
