which slave cylinder

Well, I am going to get another slave cylinder and need to know what size.

I have a 1275 motor and transmission, but a 1098 master cylinder.

Which size slave cylinder do I need? 7/8" or 1"?

Are the mounts the same?

Is the pushrod travel the same?

I want to get this clutch issue perfect.

Anyone have a similar set-up with a perfectly working clutch system?

I'll crawl under mine in the morning and let you know!

I run 1" slaves on all my Sprites. Bugeyes, 1098s, 1275s.
I like them best for ease of operation. Other than a stock Bugeye master, most clutch masters were either 3/4 or 11/16 bore.
Bugeyes and early MKIIs had a 7/8 bore master with a 7/8 bore slave.

I had my tandem master re-sleeved to 3/4", i.e. mkII master cylinder. So you would recommend the 1" slave?

Crawled under and looked this morning...it's a 1"!!!
(and has worked just fine for as far as I can remember!!)

Thanks Mike!! Man, do I appreciate it! Are you running the same setup as I am? BE, 1275, 1098 tandem master?

If you run the 1275 slave, you need to adapt UP to a 1/4 line from the tandem cylinder line of 3/16 at some point. The 1275 slave takes a rubber hose which is a 7/16-20 straight fitting in the slave, and receives a 7/16 single or bubble flare. Some folks will make that adaptation at the slave hose. I prefer to have it done at the master end of the line, then run the full 1/4"line to the slave hose. The slave "likes" the increased volume of the larger line. This is how it was done on 67's and later.

Yes, Barry, same set-up, and just as Peter C. says with the line!!

I have the braided line with the adapter from the steel line to the braided line.

Thanks fellas. I have a new one on order. Hopefully it will get here soon and I can finish this bad boy!
