TR2/3/3A Which Oil Filter

Greetings,
I have determined that my 56 TR3 is too early for any of the available "spin-on" oil filter adapters. I hate those old cartridges, shades of my TR6 and old Chevys at the service station as a teenager.
My car is a 1956, Comm number TS10193L with an engine number TS10543E.
How do I know which cartridge to buy?

AFAIK, you can't buy the original felt cartridges any more, you'll have to settle for the later paper element ones. Readily available from the usual suspects, but I've never seen them at FLAPS. TRF (and Unipart) P/N is GFE104

Or another option is to fit the "full flow" filter head from a later TR3, that will take the spin-on conversion. That's what I did, back when I had an early TR3 motor in my TR3A. (My current TR3 is late enough to have the full-flow as stock.) As I recall, it was a simple bolt-on operation, but the SPC shows that the bolts and studs were different before TS9952E (which shouldn't affect you).

PS, OK, I take that back. A little poking around with Google turned up an old post (on another forum) that claims a WIX 51302 or NAPA 1302 will fit. And according to the O'Reillys web site, there is a store about 10 miles down the road that has the WIX in stock.

Thanks for the quick reply, you are da man!
I'll look at that full flow filter head replacement, as I do enjoy the ease of a spin on filter for these cars.
