Which holes in the dash are not fully round

I'm going to have the radio cut-out welded up while I'm doing body work. This is a good time to touch up anything else on the dash. I know that some of the small switch holes should not be perfectly round -- they should have a flat spot to keep the switches from turning. What I'm not sure is which ones.

My notes say choke, heater, turn signal? I'm really not sure. Now's the time, though, to sort this out. Anyone know?

Drew,
that dash looks unrepairable! Go ahead and ship it to me before you spend anymore time on it.

Nice try, Rut!

It is in really good shape other than the radio hole that I need to patch. No extra holes, which is nice. You had any luck finding a RHD dash for your car?

Drew,
Had to try! Still looking, but pickins are slim on both sides of the big pond.

Drew, when you have the radio hole welded up have it done by a good body man. You won't want any distortion of the metal to show through after you cover it. It's fussy! Experience talking! My welded radio hole is just tacked in place to limit warp then smoothed with a little filler.

Kurt.

You get more points on your ManCard if you weld it. ;)

Hi Drew,

Just been across to the workshop in -15 to get my Bugeye dash. Its a 100% stock LH dash with no extra holes. Only the wiper pull switch and indicator switch are D shaped, and the Ignition combo switch has notches top and bottom to orientate switch and stop rotation of the body. The choke, starter and heater switch are all round holes. Can take a pic if you want.
Cheers

Above and beyond the call of duty there! That info helps, no need for pictures.

As for the radio cut-out, I'll have a chat with the body guy and we'll figure out the best method to sort it out.

Lew can you post a picture. Bugsy II's dash has some extra holes I need to fix.

Jim,

Here is the layout of the dash from the RHD handbook and several pics of my dash, with original 50 year old chalk markings on the back. This dash was obviously red originally, stained with black vinyl paint by previous owner.

From the RHD dash, it appears that only the wiper washer pump position changes to the opposite side for a LHD. All other switch and cable locations remain the same. For the LHD setup, I assume the Tacho remians closest to center as shown in the last pic before dismantle.

I hope it helps.....

Cheers
Lew

Thanks Lew I need to save this to my Spridget Tech Files on my desktop.
