Which engine do I have?

Hi all. My late '61 BT7 MkII had an engine & carb swap before I bought it in 1985, and the engine number plate was lost sometime in the 90s... I can't find my BMIHT certain to prove it, (the engine and trans numbers didn't match all the other numbers anyway) but I believe she was a tricarb side shift before becoming a dual HS6 center shift.

My question is, what engine do I have? I know the head is an AEC 960. are there some other clues as to what I'm running? I've got my camera ready!

Any help is appreciated.

Sorry about the lack of pics before. I was trying to figure out what shots to take... Then I found the number on the block "AEC 689" and just kept taking pics to help with all of my mysteries...

So, my problem is that I've never been quite sure what I've got. It's an October '61 built MkII BT7L. I was told when I bought it in 1985, that it had been converted from an original tri-carb, but to what? Now I want to rebuild the carbs and adjust the timing, but I don't know whether to consider it a BT7 or a BJ7... I hope the pics give some good information.

Block - AEC 689
Head - AEC 960
Carbs - 1-3/4" Intake
Distributor - DM6A

The more I discover and research, the more it seems that I've got a BJ7 engine and carb setup. Not sure about the head and the distributor, but the transmission's a centershift with overdrive, so that's likely out of a BJ7 as well... I'll have to pull the tunnel and look for numbers there.

Any ideas?

Chris
