WHICH ELECTRIC FAN BEST FOR 67 3.8 S ?

I am planning to fit an electric cooling fan in front of my radiator and was wondering if any forum members have done this and which brand is best? Thanks. Craig

I would fit a Spal...OEM on Merc's. Not sure what size you will require. Google them and you may find out sizing.
I believe that Kenlowe in now out of business?

Hi Craig,

On the 3.8S you already have a big fan behind the rad. with a good shroud and turned directly by the engine. If you have cooling problems, i'd look elsewhere to fix it - water pump, thermostat, radiator, or your gauge/sending unit may be giving wrong readings. If you do add a fan, DO NOT mount it through the radiator fins with the plastic pins. The vibration eventually ruptures a tube. Make a bracket to mount it somewhere else. The only people that like them are radiator repair guys - job security.

Phil.

I have one for my MK2...came with it with the Singapore air conditioning.
Removed it when the AC got yanked out.
Has a thich single bracket the mounts through the side of the air opening, between grille and radiator.
Obviously pushes air through the radiator.
But, never seen a Jag that needed an extra fan unless the loads have changed or something else is wrong.
Loads being add-on AC, or slipping belt, 42 grille badges, you know, things like that.
