Where Is The Power I Need

I'm planning on getting some 7in fog lights on the front of my MGB and also using a 600watt amp for my speakers and using a 200watt amp for a sub. where can i find a high output alternator for all of this because i'm sure I will need one

probably have to go with a delco, and put a capacitor on the amp. The Mg's dont draw much power anyway, No accessorys of computers to drain the juice.

now that you say that it reminds me I am going to put a ford focus zx3 svt engine with a 6 speed in there and that will have a computer but that will be a long time from now and that engine will have an alternator of its own.

If you look at the Power formula P=IE or in this case I=P/E and substitute the power you expect to run for "P" and divide the Voltage into it "E"=12volts you will get the number of amps "I" that the alternator will have to put out just to keep up with it.
800w = 66.67 Amps plus the normal draw you need for the car. And a general rule of thumb I follow is to not come any closer than 60 or 70% of the total capabilities of any power source for 100% duty cycle to maintain a decent temperature.

Delco alternators come in a variety of outputs. You can get a 83 amp one size fits all at most autoparts stores. There are also 100 amp or more available. Check out off-road suppliers and catalogs, as Land Rovers and Jeeps with HD winches need a lot more juice than most of us.
