I've done similar to that only using a box wrench and a piece of Gorilla tape over the top of the nut and down the sides of the wrench, boy that gorilla tape really sticks when trying to get the wrench back off, a long handle flat screwdriver under the end of the wrench works very well! :thumbsup2:

Most of the time my tools are way too oily for tape to stick.
I keep dozens of magnets around the shop, and sometimes that works.
