When did Mini’s get so expensive

This is absolutely true.

I had a 2010 Clubman with 80K. I was home at Thanksgiving and this time around the heater stopped working. Prior year at Christmas I spent $1000 and two days doing repairs. I traded it in for a Corolla (for my daughter). The dealer gave me $2500, but retail wasn't much more.

As they should.

While arguably a fun car to drive when new, repairs on them as they age become more frequent and expensive. While I do all the work on my old British cars, I would not be able to do as much of my own work on a BWM MINI... too electronic, too cramped under the hood, too many special tools. Unfortunately, BMW MINIs can be quite expensive to repair.
