When Customizers Go Completely Insane!

Definitely some distinctive styling cues there!
Is that in Japan or where?

Somehow knowing the import tuning crowd, I doubt those are photoshopped, but definitely some bad taste in there IMHO

My take on those was that many of them (or at least the more extreme ones) are more parody than serious customs. Most of them are based on pretty old cars (by Japanese standards - not much of a classic car scene there), which would provide a cheap base for a parody. Still, pretty amazing..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

AGGHHHHHHHHHHHH My Eyes.

It hurts me to say it, but they do exist over here in Tokyo.
I've actually seen some of those in the flesh, not a pretty sight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Kind of like the one in the last picture though... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the only one that I would call a parody of the others is the white car with pink and red fender flares that you can see the body behind, along with its GINORMOUS RED DOUBLE WING PLYWOOD SPOILER, obviously made from supplies purchased at a hardware store... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know what it reminds of? Spaceships!! Honestly! Do you really think that putting 10 meter back wings is going to increase your car performance? And what about those super-long exaust pipes? They look as if they were taken from house plumbing!

Probably not too far off from the Detroit drafting boards. They watch these trends and give out what is "fashionable" with some down styling. Remember the late '60s. Kids have always been the fashion setters (probably just to shock their elders). Although these look like something to jump on in a skateboard park.
Thanks for the laugh.
