I am watching the latest episode of Wheeler Dealers featuring a TR4, very original rust free car. Will see where they go with it. Watching on Motor Trend Go app.

I saw it on TV last week. Enjoy

Hope it is not one of those shows where they think the answer to everything is "Drop a small block V8" in it.

Know what you mean. One of those idiot shows (not Wheeler Dealers) put a V8 in a MGB and routed the exhaust vertically through the hood like a diesel truck.

I finished it up, no, not a hot rod or scream at each other because the car needs to be totally restored by next week show.

They take classics, refurbish them on a budget, and then sell them for a very fictitious profit, as labor doesn't seem to be counted nor is travel time and money (in the TR4 episode Mike flies across the Atlantic to get a new door skin) but they show some good tips on how to fix and restore things, and they also go to specialist shops and suppliers and show how things are made there. Worth a watch if you haven't.

I watched it last night. I was curious. Does the TR4 engine use thrust washers like the TR6? If so, they never even checked them, nor did they take the head off. I guess the compression was good and the car was not smoking. Ant did install an "improved" water pump with 6 impeller vanes and a two-piece rear main seal plus an alternator and of course reversed some wires. They paid $6,800.00 for the car, put in about another $6,500.00 and sold it for $16,500.00. They got a new doorskin from England custom made. $1,340.00 as I recall. Car was clean and rust-free.

I have never seen that rear main seal before. I just looked at Moss and BPNW and neither have it on their website. Where does one find a seal like that?
