Wheel Spacer Source?

Anyone in here know a source for wheel spacers? I need to get a set that are about 1" thick for my MGB. I want to get a set that will bolt to the original studs and the wheel then bolts to the spacer.

I've been looking through countless websites (eekBay included), and I'm finding it very difficult to locate 1" 4x4.5 wheel spacers that have 1/2-20 wheel studs in them. Seems almost everyone is only making spacers with metric studs, especially in the 4x4.5" (4x114.3mm) bolt pattern.

umm... what would be the difference if you bolt the spacer to the hub with 1/2x20 nuts and hold the wheels on with metric nuts?!?

it would be less to keep track of? erm... I would only have to buy 20 new lug nuts instead of 24?

Also, I'm not sure if the type of lug nut I need to use with the Saab Shelby wheels will work with metric nuts... 1/2-20 is slightly thicker than 12mm-1.5. So, I'm thinking the shanks on the lugs for a 12mm-1.5 won't be thick enough to center the wheel properly.

Maybe I'm wrong on that account though.

heh... maybe I should have looked into that earlier. looks like the shank diameter can be the same for the most common size wheel studs.

Thanks... for the enlightenment, if you wanna call it that /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'd visit a parts house and do some measurin' of the various available lug nuts. Tell th' parts monkeys you're just shoppin'...

last couple of parts stores I went into didn't have much in terms of selection as far as lugs went. Lots of 12mm-1.5 lugs, but none that were shanked with flat shoulder seats. 1 package of 5 1/2-20 lugs with flat seats. A product of "stock what's in demand" I suppose, which in this case would be a ton of 12mm-1.5 tapered seat lug nuts.

Maybe I'll load up a wheel on Wednesday and visit some shops to do some lug nut fitment testing.

Been researching lugs onna innernet. Seems shanked lug nuts are available in 2 shank diameters. The smaller of the two diameters is supposedly the common one for passenger cars, and the larger one is normally found on 8-lug trucks.

I reckon this makes fitting the wheels a bit easier than I initially expected /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Winners Circle has just what you are looking for. I have a 1" set I used on the Midget race car I got from them to get out to legal track, but they are slotted and will fit the MGB's 4 x4.5" bolt pattern as well, I already test fit them on my my 67 GT. The ones WC has are very nicely made unlike some of the other garbage out here made to fit every bolt bolt pattern in the world.

There was a guy that has some on ebay, you have to read the auctions though he will custom make any size from new aluminum billets
