Wheel on the "B' go round & round

Hi guys,
I 'm looking for rims for my "b" but all
I can find is Wire, Minilite/Panasport or Rostyle.

I'd like to do a 16"X 7" but worried about fit problems
and it's to late to start cutting wheel wells now.

I'd also like a 5 spoke wheel, I saw one once
on a site call "Proper MG" but he has gone under.

I have a picture of the wheel but can't find it anywhere.
Someone must be making it.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steven

As well you should be! I'd think 6", maybe 6-1/2" but I doubt it) is widest you could go without modifying inner wheel wells or slapping on a set of flares.

Thanks Tony,
Any ideas about who specializes in rims for British cars that
look a bit more contemporary or Modern.

Do you know if a the new minis wheels will fit on a "B"

These are going on my '74 B. 195/60 R14. I think I'll just have enough room. Boy - I never realized how much wider than the 185/75 I have on the GT. Beefy in comparison.

Years ago, when I autocrossed my B, I had 195/60 x 14" also. They JUST fit the bodywork in the rear.

You don't want too much tire and wheel down there. Without power steering, the steering gets pretty heavy. I have 15x8 wheels with 225/50R15 rubber on my MGC, and a quick rack steering assembly. It's fine at speed but you get a workout turning the wheel at a stop.

& those wheels vping has also come in 15"

Then there are the Carroll Shelby wheels off a Saab, early 240Z, 260Z, 280Z wheels...most Volvo wheels...Sears has a neat wheel that'll fit an MGB in 15" or 14":

Lets not forget that there are a lot of used wheels from other cars that work on our B's just fine.

My alloy "Western" wheels came off of an old Datsun 240Z. I picked them up on eBay for about $200. After a good cleaning they mounted up to my 78B just fine. Currently sporting some Bridgestone Potenza RE950 195/60x14s.

Fabed up my own center caps.

yup what Bret just said... I'm "rocking" a set of those SAAB Shelby wheels on my B...

I too "made" my own Center caps. Mine are made from "Honda Accord Alloy Wheel" center caps and I trim taped + Gorilla Glued MG Midget grill badges to the cap.

As far as tires go, I wanted to use Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS, but they were on back order nation wide in the sizes I want. So, I went with Bridgestone Potenza G009 195/60-15. Possibly not as "sticky" as the RE 960AS tires, but the G009s are a good all round touring tire and on a B offer lots of holding power with enough grip to have you sliding out of your seat in the twisties.

And they're BESPOKE, too, Rob!
