Wheel lug nut torque

Whats the torque for the wheel nuts on a 78 Spit? thanks

I have disk wheels and 3/8" studs........(same as your Spit?)

I torque to 48 Lbs.........What does everybody else use?

45-50ft lbs on a TR 7/16" studs. 89ft lbs on my Audi alloys.

Spec. for the Herald, Spitfire and such was given as 38-42 lb./ft. Granted, that was for the older type of lug nut as opposed to the chromed "acorn" nuts on MkIV and 1500 Spitfires, but I suspect the same numbers would still be appropriate.

My Haynes book says 48lbs/ft. The books makes no distinction between early lug nuts and the later acorn nuts. T.T.

Spitfire Owners Workshop Manual says 48 lb-ft for standard wheel nuts. 45 lb-ft for wire wheel extension nuts.
