The Millau viaduct is part of the new E11 expressway connecting Paris and Barcelona and features the highest bridge piers ever constructed. The tallest is 240 meters high and the overall height will be an impressive 336 meters, making this the highest bridge in the world.

Wow! Two highways - the upper one for SUVs,
& the lower one for Sports Cars.

Holy **** although i would rather drive the road below it

I'll take the high road and you take the low road... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Wow, some bridge that.

Cruising on that high road will probably save a lot of time, but look at all the fun missed by not "driving" the low road!!! The old road was built for LBCs!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Its a toll bridge, I think its about 5 Euros.

Use the bridge one way and the curvy road back.

I plan on doing this in the next couple of years- rent a gite for a couple of weeks in France and go driving about the countryside.

Must not have any earth quakes in that place. But I wonder what the resonant frequency of that thing might be ? No ! JW, take the curvy road both ways---Keoke

They had a show about building it on Discovery Channel a while back.
Fascinating stuff.

I watched a show on how they built it. They actually built all the sections on land and then slowly moved the huge sections between piers(look at the pix to see how long they are) How they did that was cool. It was like a big I don't know it was cool. That big section hanging out in space.

Found that so intresting I googled it and have read it all. The things you learn here.
