What's with Castrol Oil?

Country flag
Offline
I have looked at several stores and online with Amazon for Castrol high mileage 20w50 (green container) but with no success. Walmart used to carry the 5 qt for $19.00; others are as much as $35.00. Regardless, nobody has had it for the last month or so.

Re: Whats with Castrol Oil?

Amazon says it's in stock. Maybe not in the local stores where it's snowing, though.

Re: Whats with Castrol Oil?

I was on the Castrol sight but the local stores did not have any. And I did not find it at Amazon. I'll try again.

Hmmmm ... shades of Valvoline 20W-50 disappearing off shelves a few years ago? They didn't just sell out, the guys at my local parts house said they pulled it off the shelf. Think it was a 'misunderstanding' about the ZDDP content, and it reappeared about 1 year later (in the meantime, I bought offline).

I heard that VR1 was pulled because it didn't have the latest API circle on it. I understand the State doesn't allow sale of oil without it in stores where LOLs can buy it. (For you youngsters, LOL = little old lady.) Fortunately, it's back.

Just bought two 5 qt containers at a local Wal Mart. It does get scarce this time of year. I suspect because it's similar to molasses in low temps and they don't sell much.

John - I thought "LOL" was the new version of a period at the end of a sentence.
