What's the deal with mounting seats in a Bugeye?

I am getting my seats put together for my 1959 Bugeye (it came without any mounted) and I notice that when I put the rails on the bottom of the seat frame, it would fit fine on any flat surface. But the Bugeye has the cross member going across the floor--do the rails just go up on some type of spacers to clear the crossmember? Jim
 
I thought for a minute you were about to do a Jerry Seinfeild routine...

The seats mount rear of the cross member. It's a tight fit.
 
The driver's seat uses wood spacers under the adjustable rails. This raises it up a bit to clear the floor and the carpet. The passenger seat uses the brackets, as it is non-adjustable - at least from the factory.

Well, I am the master of my domain, if you remember the episode "The Contest.". Anyway thanks for the advice. I'll just stick a piece of wood under there. Jim
 
The wood is about the thickness and width of a wooden yard stick. Mine were Oak.
