What's the consensus of the XJ8 up to year 2003

Still researching. Want to know your informed opinion on the XJ8 up to year 2003 (cost being the limiting factor in this year cut-off).

Timing chain problems? Other mechanical hazards?

Replied to your last post about the missing TR3 a few minutes ago,
have you checked out Jaguar Clubs of North America's model pages?
They really give a thorough breakdown of each generation. I think if you go to www.jcna.com and search around for the saloons section or model info pages, you'll get alot of educated answers and trivial tidbits too, how the models evolved, their quirks and their strong points as well. I'll try to PM you a link. All in all though, I really like the X350 models, having said that I have never owned one. They are a classic looking Jaguar as the new one go and though they had their issues, as most Jaguar's have been known to have, they are by most accounts fairly reliable and very attractive and now very affordable. I'll dig up the info I keep on each generation of XJ's and send it to you for this range...
