Oh great! One more thing to worry about:

Granite

I'm beginning long for the days when we didn't know so much!

Ceramic tile on all my countertops in kitchen & bathrooms.

S'only a matter of time Tony, before they find something wrong with THAT too.

The sky really IS falling, you know... :eeek:

Amazing any of us made it out of childhood...

I realize some of us here are still in their childhood, but that's a different story all together.

Please don't anyone tell my wife.
We just remodelled the kitchen.
I can't afford to do it twice...

Remember the old red Ceramic Fiestaware?

Nothing but more cow pies- such nonsense.

Almost every home in America has granite
under it, at some depth -except maybe Florida.

Remember the radioactive mother's breast milk scare?

Tinster, quite true. My house is built on the lower half of the largest exposed piece of granite in the world.

Uranium is also used to color glass, ranging from yellow to green. It is also in your back yard. If you live near a coal fired plant, it is in the air. I am not saying this is good, just that it is there.

The one upside, is the part with high levels can be used to kill salmonella and offered as an unexpected plus.

Remember the days while sports cars were dangerous and countertops weren't? Your 40 year old roadster is a classic and your kitchen counter is out to get you.

Kitchen counters: Something that we take for granite..... leaves us between a rock and a hard place. If the countertop gets you have you been stoned?

I apologise for each of the above. Sometimes, I can't help myself. I'll go wash my mouth with soap(stone).

When we redid the kitchen and breezeway, we considered granite, but the cost was just too much. Went with the good old standby...FORMICA...not natural and dangerous like that radioactive stone. The old Formica we had in the kitchen before we redid it was fifty years old and still looked good. It had all those years of hot pots, spilled milk, was used in lieu of a cutting board, had heavy stuff dropped on it and showed no wear whatsoever. Beauty, convenience, durability and safety in a low cost item available in infinite color and variety. Formica's a winner as far as I'm concerned. The real kicker, is the stuff we got now looks just like granite. :yesnod:

I don't know about granite (except that the radioactivity thing used to be taught in 8th grade geology/science class, I didn't know it was "news"), but don't eat carrots - they're bad news.

...or Jalapeo peppers from Mexico.

Let's not dishonor red dye #2 either.

I did our countertops with Chinese Corian counterfeit: "KORLAN" meh.

...pro'lly has lead leechin' from it...

<span style="color: #990000">Delta - Yupper !

I can't count how many enjoyable nights I spent watching
the laser light shows on the face of Stone Mountain.
None of me glows in the dark as a result.

And think how many churches are constructed from granite.
Mickey? Do you glow in the dark yet ? je,je,je,je.

I believe we should solicit Merrel Streep to testify before Congress as an expert witness on the dangers of granite countertops to our children! Oh, the humanity!

Huh?!?! Ya mean Martha Stewart isn't "credible" any longer?

If you get the chance, take the radioactive baths in Bagdastein (sp), Austria. Warm water mixed with radon gas. For whatever reason, there are a lot of old Austrians walking around without tumors and none of them glow. Maybe the beer is a curative.
We have many instances of homes testing positive for radon here, and the buyer/seller ends up having to install a positive flow air extraction system. There is some evidence that heavy concentrations are possibly causative for certain cancers. Probably could say the same for heavy doses of LBC exhaust.
