TR6 What were the manufacturer's estimates on gas mileage for a TR6

Seeing as the price of gasoline is skyrocketing out of control....just wondered if anyone knew the city/highway estimated gas mileage on a 1975 TR6. These cars were built right after the Arab Oil Embargo in 1973, and I wondered if they went along with trying to improve gas mileage at all. It seems to me, I'm lucky to get 23mpg on the freeway in my TR6. I know we didn't get these cars with gas mileage as a factor, but have you seen the price of gas lately??????

Hello Steven,
if that is an American gallon then that seems about right. I take it you haven't been to the U.K. (or Europe) lately?

No....I majored in European History and haven't been to Europe...but I've been to Asia.
At least you guys get health care from all the taxes on your gasoline. All we get is more welfare money for illegal immigrants.
I dare say you have better roads than we do either. Our whole road system is breaking up from lack of maintenance, but we're building new stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan....go figure.
Also....the States are bigger than most individual European countries, so we have to use more gas to get anywhere. Other than that....I think we need a new constitutional amendment that "all Americans have the right to cheap fuel." How's that for smart politics? I'd take off the windscreen, but one trip down the interstate at 70mph with all those semi trucks spitting rocks from their tires......well that would be one bad road trip!

Without an overdrive unit I got around 25mpg regularily driving 65 mph.
When taking it up to 75-80'ish it dropped off below 20mpg.
One of my buddies used to get 15-17 on the highway w/o OD. He moved here from a sea-level city. He just had his carbs tuned for the mile high altitude here so he should run considerabily leaner- hopefully better MPG to boot! No data at this point.
