Always wondered what was the original intent of this gusset found on the driver's side of 4's through 6's. Any ideas?

I thought that too. But on my six, it is only on the driver's side. If it was a structural thing, what are the holes for?

The holes are there so water has a place to enter and accumulate. Notice how the holes are half way up with no drainage on the bottom. It is especially effective when you have snow on your shoes. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

It's also there to get in your way when you replace your floors.

I wonder if it there on a RHD TR6 or would it be on the other side? Gotta be a stiffener for the pedal mechanism.

There is no hollow on the trans side of this that allows for some wrench room when servicing the bell are?
Probably not, silly fool , provide workimg space ....
