I see the recipe for homemade waxoyl calls out light mineral oil. Has anyone made some and what mineral oil did you use.
Will the mineral oil from a drug store do the trick? Thats the way the web search on mineral oil reads.
Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am a believer in Penetrol as a subsitute for waxoyl. It's relatively cheap and easy to get at the home stores and seems to work just as well. You might try that instead of going to all the trouble to mix up your own concoction.

47, should be something easy to get in our area!

I was just looking at the LPS brand this morning, as their product meets the Boeing BMS standards, it is also cheaper at the gallon price. The LPS hardcoat meets a 500 hour test in a salt spray environment.
Also what's your location here in the wet Northwest and do you belong to the Tyee club?

I'll go down for the LPS as well. I'm in the Aviation Industry and we always have the stuff around the shop. Used it for years and have nothing negative to report. I gave my frame a very liberal coating inside with a special applicator we have hooked up to an air source. Probably dripped for about two weeks over the hot summer in the hangar but once it cured up a little, no mess.

Also, they make a product, LPS 3, that is in a spray can that works great for small parts that you don't want to paint but need to protect from corrosion. It too dries to a semi-waxy coating and seems to last forever.

I think everybody should send there frames to Dave and have him oil them up for us!!
