Sounds like the most likely explanation. But you have to admit it is a strange optical illusion. I had thought that IF (note I said IF) it was a non-natural structure (i.e., man made) that it might have been something that was related to some research done at the Polish research station "AB Dobrowolski Research Station" which, coincidentally is located only about 6-7 miles from this "anomaly." Per Wikipedia, the Polish had done research there in the field of "gravimetry," or the study of gravitational fields. However, when you look at the area around that research station, you see several lakes with ice formations that have very similar curved ice structures.

I was hoping to explain it away as "swamp gas" but realized too late that Antarctica ain't as swampy as Florida.
