I left early this morning to meet some of my buds for coffee (Dec. 20th and I had my car on the road!).
As we were getting ready to leave the coffee place one of my friends said "look out the window"... I looked out and saw this guy on the street walking in "circles" around my TR6. He would start going around it and then stop, step back and stare, then continue around only to stop again and look into the windows. It's as if this guy had been completely mesmerized by what he was looking at.
When I finally walked out, he asked me if "it was my car"; I told him "it was" to which he replied "What the heck is it?". This guy in his mid-twenties had never seen or even heard of a TR6. The look on his face was priceless. Out of the mouth of babes..... so to speak!

Just tell him "It's a time machine."
Those who don't know their history are doomed to never have a cool car.:encouragement:
 
I'm not entirely surprised, I'm sure there are a few folks among the young generation who don't know a thing about classic cars of any sort, it's just simply not part of their world...
 
At least he didn't ask you if you had it since it was new, which happens to me with my Sprite all the time.

I get a lot of the "what is it?". Most people assume it's an MG because of the familial resemblance to the MGB. I've been tempted to get a personalized tag for the car "NOTANMG"

At my workplace, we have a lot of young folks who have no idea what my car is, but they think it is the coolest thing they've ever seen. Can't argue with that!
 
Sounds familiar. And how many folks under 30 know what a carburetor or a distributor is?

Young guys I work with are fascinated by our older cars. Open the hood/bonnet and actually see how it works - "awesome!".
