What the float?

HS Type (Plastic float)
To adjust.
Hold the float lid assembly in the inverted position and measure the gap between the float and the lid. For the early type of plastic float with a metal lever arm the gap should be between 0.125" and 0.187". Small adjustments can be made by bending the metal lever arms. OK I GET THAT

For later all plastic floats the clearance should be between 0.062" and 0.187" but this type is not adjustable.

What the heck do you do if your like me and have the later?
I'm thinking of putting a washer - spacer under the seat to lower the float level. Anybody done this or have another answer?

Call Joe Curto, and get him to sell you some shims , and throw in a regular envelope and mail to you. www.joecurto.com. Put a shim or tow as need between the needle seat valve body and the lid to adjust float level. Also you can now agin buy a flaot with the adjsutable tab, ask Joe about them, if your floats are good, the shim way work fine, but just so you know you can get the old style floats again.

One other thing to consider, if the gap is too small, it may be becuase the needle is worn and traveling too far into the seat. Look at the float where it strikes the heel of the needle and ask yourself if the float looks worn at that spot. If not, it may be the needle.

I may just do that Hap and also a leaner needle. The fuel level measuing with the float in place and a tube attached to the jet outlet comes to about 80mm from the edge of the float chamber edge not sure exactly were it should be but I'm going to check the rear caB in a few minutes just to compare.
The thing runs really strong but it is rich all over the place.
One thing I did notice that is pointing me to fuel level in the float chamber is that I used a color tune and abserved the following.

With the car running at lean best idle viewing the combustion it was rich yellow flame. But as it would run and the level in the chamber would drop, for just a second it would burn blue.
I maybe of base here but I'm thinking its float level related.
I'm running AAN needles Maybe I need the next lean set
Could plugs contribute to this condition?
