What Should I do?

OK, here is my problem. I've got some guys that think they are big and bad. They see my car places and get in it and do whatever they want and tonight I cought them writing on it with paint pens. Well after about 30 mins of yelling at them and threatning to call the cops I backed off and left, there were about 8-9 of them. What should i do next time I see them doing something to my car?
1. I can call the cops and wait 30 mins to see if they show up while watching the people drive off.
2. I can beat them with my fire extingusher and 5 pound metal flashlight.
3. I can do nothing.
4. Any ideas?
Oh and by the way I'm 16 and don't want to go to jail or get in trouble for this.

And you shouldn't. You should do a few things: (1)Call the cops and let the handle it - it's their job not yours, and (2)Manage to get pictures of these morons in/near your car - but when you do that don't hang around, (3)Have witnesses if possible, (4)If they can drive off then they have cars - get the plate numbers.

Unfortunately they're liable to not have much done to them unless you press charges, which might just make things worse - but that ultimately would make things worse for them. Hopefully they're bright enough to figure that out, but unfortunately these types of head-cases usually don't connect their actions with their punishment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif . These morons are committing a crime and deserve to pay for it.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif all of the above, was very well said

man, that totally is rotten. you need 8-9 friends all taking video and making notes. go to the authorities, get some policemans cell number. usually there is leader in a group like that.....{/rant auto off }

policies of this forum prevent me from continuing

this really ticks me off

Adam keep us posted

I found one of th guy's AOL instant messanger's screen name and told him I'm gonna take a picture of them doing it and call the cops. He thought it was best to leave me alone then. But there are still more.

What started this entire thing? Jealous of your car? Can you avoid leaving your car in certain areas? And as everyone has said, take pictures, get witnesses and then NAIL THEM ROYALLY.
You can not let bullies contiune because it will not stop.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif with what's been advised above, get pictures, names, license plates and preferably have witnesses too if possible. Then show it to the authorites. However, given your age, I'd like some more context on this to give you good advice.
do you know these guys? what would be their 'social status' in school? what's yours? do they go to the same school as you? are they the same age as you? what do they drive? is this a particularly nice MG? what exactly have they done to it in the past? what would be your typical reaction? any other racial/sexual/social/political differences between you that could be part of this? Problems with people your age unfortunately aren't as easy to fix as with more mature people since reason hasn't fully developed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif However, one pretty universal thing for people your age is fear of cops and parents. Now I wouldn't get parents involved for sure, that would definitely make things worse for you, but cops can help, especially if you find a sympathetic one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif If you know a cop, have a friend's parent who's a cop, etc, get them to go chew these guys out (not at their homes or anywhere their parents may be involved) scare them really good and then tack on someting indicating that you aren't pressing charges, so they're okay this time, but he's going to bust their butt next time they look at him funny. This is a cycle, and you want to break the cycle, so you need to 'offer' them something (like not pressing charges, or having incriminating evidence to take to the cops) to sway their opinion in some way......

Adam,

When I was in high school just a few years ago I had a similar problem with these two guys. I can tell you from experiance that you should not do what I did. I came out from class one day and caught them pouring coke all over the hood and fenders of my 52 International pick-up. So I ran up grabed one of them threw him down the other one hit me so I started to beat the living crap out of him while the one I threw down ran off. The guy I beat up wound up spending the night in the hospital. I had charges filed against me spent and the night in county jail. Luckily the guys father made him drop all the charges after finding out what he had done. His father told me that the way he saw it he and I were even he having to pay for the medical bills, and I having to pay for the court costs, plus having to pay for the repair to my paint job, wet sanding it down till all the pits were out then re shooting two coats of clear. So even though I never had to deal with the guys bothering me again and the assault charges were dropped the monetary costs along with the night in jail and the threat of going to jail for a longer period did not make it worth the while. So my advice is to not do what I did take the advice everyone here has given you and wait it out. Good Luck.

Can you make a deal with the parents to garage it? Maybe extra help around the house?
Maybe clean out the garage?
Mike!

how ya making out Adam?

Report it to your insurance company

Vandalism is covered - minus your comprehensive deductible. And it does one other thing - gives you a powerful ally. Insurance companies hate to be out money. If you have pictures and identification of the vandals, they can put a lot more pressure on the police to do something than you can. Every year oyu hand over a lot of money for essentially nothing - you might as well get something for it.
